Foundation Underpinning in Quincy, MA
Prolonged seawater exposure caused extreme section loss in the columns supporting the floor above. The columns required temporary support before any strengthening or replacement could proceed.
Structural Condition Assessment and Implementation
CEI designed and installed underpinning to transfer load away from the deteriorated columns. This kept the floor above supported while the original columns were prepared for strengthening or replacement. The underpinning was installed by CEI's repair crew under the supervision of the design engineer. Handling assessment, design, and field work in-house allowed the work to move directly from evaluation to repair.
