Condition Assessment & Concrete Repair in Quincy, MA
Kennedy Senior Center

Project Overview: Concrete Repairs Requiring Structural Access
The Kennedy Senior Center in Quincy required remedial concrete repairs to extend the useful life of the structure. CEI was engaged to assess the condition of the distressed concrete, design the corrective repair, and provide construction administration as the work was carried out. As with most of our projects, the work began with an evaluation by our in-house professional structural engineer to determine what needed to be done, if anything, before any repair was designed.
Structural Condition Assessment and Remedial Repair Design in Quincy, MA
CEI provided the structural condition assessment, remedial repair design, and expert services for the concrete repairs. Remedial repairs are corrective repairs, typically made to extend the life of an existing structure rather than to support additional load or reconfigure a space. Because remedial repairs are often located in confined or otherwise difficult-to-access areas, the repair detail must align with the means and methods of those performing the work in the field. Our experience in both design and construction allows us to develop repair details that fit the existing conditions. To allow the concrete repairs to be conducted by others, CEI designed and installed the underpinning and structural steel required to access the work.
